CILACAP, Metronusanews– The agricultural development program through the 100-hectare Non-Raw Land Optimization Construction Project in Gandrungmanis Village, Gandrungmangu District, Cilacap Regency, Central Java, has become a new hope for improving farmers’ productivity and strengthening local food security.
The project, funded by the 2026 State Budget (APBN) with an estimated value of IDR 460 million, is expected to provide significant benefits for agricultural land management, increase production capacity, and support sustainable food development in the region.
The optimism was expressed by Saiman, Chairman of the Sri Rejeki Farmers Group and a resident of RT 03 RW 12, Gandrungmanis Village, during a meeting with the project implementation team on Tuesday (21/7/2026).
According to Saiman, the success of the development program does not only depend on the main construction process but also requires strong supporting infrastructure, particularly road access and proper water flow management around the agricultural area.
"We hope all work will be carried out according to technical specifications and the approved planning documents. Quality must remain the top priority so that the infrastructure can last for a long time and provide real benefits for the community," Saiman said.
Agricultural Road Access Needed to Support Distribution
Saiman explained that one of the main challenges currently faced by local farmers is limited access to the project location. Poor road conditions have affected the transportation of construction materials as well as the distribution of agricultural products.
He expressed hope that the Citanduy River Basin Organization (BBWS Citanduy), Banjar working area, would provide attention to the construction of access roads to the agricultural site, along with improvements to riverbank areas and drainage channels.
"Good road infrastructure is very important for farmers. With proper access, harvested crops can be transported safely to markets without damage. It will also make the delivery of construction materials easier and more efficient," he explained.
According to him, construction materials currently have to be transported through a route of more than one kilometer due to limited access. However, this condition has not reduced the enthusiasm of farmers and local residents in supporting the government program.
"We remain committed to working together so that this project follows regulations, produces high-quality construction, and can be fully accounted for to the community," he added.
Development Transparency as a Shared Commitment
In addition to supporting the project implementation, Saiman emphasized the importance of transparency and public information openness throughout every stage of development.
He stated his commitment to maintaining communication with various parties, including journalists who monitor development activities in the Gandrungmangu area.
According to him, the media plays an important role in ensuring transparency so that the public can receive objective information about government programs.
"We welcome communication with media partners so every stage of development can be monitored openly. Our hope is that this project will provide maximum benefits for the community," he said.
Encouraging More Productive and Prosperous Agriculture
The Non-Raw Land Optimization Project is scheduled for completion on December 28, 2026. The project is being carried out by the Sri Rejeki Farmers Group Project Implementation Unit (UPKK) under supervision from the Class I Agricultural Land and Irrigation Management Center in Bandung.
The presence of this project represents a strategic step in improving agricultural land quality, strengthening water management systems, and creating opportunities for economic growth among residents of Gandrungmanis Village.
With adequate supporting infrastructure, farmers hope that agricultural land can be managed more effectively, increasing productivity and improving the welfare of farming families.
